sailing in Galicia |
Waves: inside the rías (fiords), sailing is very comfortable: there is not swell, just wind waves. Outside, the situation is quite different and we must always count with some swell and fetch.

Wind: In Summer, the Azores anticyclone brings winds from the first quadrant (N-NE). The intensity is variable and calmy days can be fast followed by fresh breezes periods. You must always foresee sea breezes from noon on which can easily reach 20-25 knots. In "Ría de Arousa" and "Ría de Noia-Muros", night shore breezes can blow with intensity even after dawn. Night anchorages must be carefully made under those conditions.
