dolphins and sea-birds watching in Galicia
Galician fiords have the second highest population of dolphins in Europe, after Scotland. It is estimated that in our estuaries permanently inhabit some 250 specimens of bottlenose dolphin (Tursiops truncatus), known in Galicia as "arroaz". The most densely inhabitated area with "arroaces" is to the east of an imaginary line drawn between Cape Finisterre and Cape Silleiro, basically the Rias Baixas and the waters surrounding the National Park of Atlantic Islands.
In July and August, we can arrange dolphins watching sails from the port of Vigo in one or more days, that we can combine or include in our Sailing routes in Galicia.
Between September and June, we offer you the opportunity to sail from the port of Corunna and spend a weekend watching seabirds in the "Costa da Morte", with one of the largest populations of albatrosses (mascatos) of Galicia
